We’re not a big soccer family so I’m learning here! There’s a term that is YELLED on the pitch, but we can hear it WHISPERED by the Holy Spirit.

When a player yells “Time!” on the pitch: they’re telling a teammate, “You have space. Nobody is immediately pressuring you. Lift your head, settle the ball, and make a good decision.”
It’s the opposite of hearing “Man on!”, which means danger is close and you need to act quickly.
So often in life our decisions are a REACTION - we rush, worry, and assume we have to solve everything immediately. The noise around us says, Hurry. Decide now. Panic. You’re behind.
But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly invites His people to slow down and trust Him.
I can think of times when the Holy Spirit was basically calling out, “Time!”

You have time to pray before responding.
You have time to listen before speaking.
You have time to seek wisdom before making a decision.
You have time to remember that God is already present in the situation.

The world is yelling “Hurry!” but God is saying, “You have time. Look up. Listen. I’m with you.”
